Ornamental sticks were used in Egypt centuries ago and were commonly made of ivory, wood, silver, gold and various other metals. They were also very common with the Japanese, Greeks and Romans. Later, these accessories made their way to China where they became globally popular.

Traditionally, ornamental sticks are still quite popular in both China and Japan. In Japan, for instance, Kanzashi, is a traditional accessory. This type of hairstyle is very traditional but is very well loved and adored by this modern generation.
